I’m especially excited by the Easter Eggs and callbacks to the Ghostbusters films hidden in this set.
#GHOSTBUSTERS ECTO 1 MODEL FULL#
This is the largest and most detailed version of this car that we have ever created, It is crammed full of authentic features and easter eggs, that I’m excited for builders to discover as they put this model together.
Mike Psiaki, the lead LEGO designer who worked on this set had this to say “I love creating LEGO vehicles and having previously designed the LEGO James Bond Aston Martin DB5, I loved the challenge of working on the ECTO-1. The roof of ECTO-1 is naturally packed with all sorts of ghost-detecting and Ghostbustin’ essentials to ensure that you’re set for any paranormal strangeness in your neighbourhood. Can I get a hallelujah and an amen?Īs we see in the trailer, ECTO-1 has/will receive some mechanical upgrades, with a Gunner Seat that deploys from the back seat (complete with its own Proton Pack) and there’s a new Ghost Sniffer – some sort of drone/robot that gets deployed out the back.
Thankfully, the most important details such as the Ghostbusters logo are printed elements. Stickers suck, we all know that, but I think in the case of the 2020 LEGO ECTO-1, you’ll have a legitimate reason to opt to NOT apply these stickers to get a pristine ECTO-1 model. The ECTO-1 that we see in the Afterlife trailer does seem to be the original from the 1984 movie, but a little beat up and rusted, hence all the new rust stickers on the model.
#GHOSTBUSTERS ECTO 1 MODEL UPGRADE#
If you were a fan of the original LEGO Ideas ECTO-1 from 2014, the 2020 version is the upgrade you’ve always wanted, and more. The 2020 LEGO ECTO-1 measures over 8 ” (22.5cm) high, 18” (47cm) long and 6” (16.5cm) wide – like all Cadillacs, the model is suitably long, making it the longest Creator Expert-scale vehicle yet. This is without doubt, a stunningly detailed set that perfectly captures the iconic silhoutte, colours and scale of the ECTO-1. This 2,352 piece highly detailed Ectomobile model is based on the vehicle featured in Ghostbusters: Afterlife (coming to you in 2021, or whenever cinemas open), and has a global release date of 15 November. LEGO are hellbent on finishing 2020 strong, and with the reveal of 10274 Ghostbusters Ecto-1, a UCS/Creator Expert-esque take on the iconic 1959 Cadillac Miller-Meteor.
